『유한당사씨언행록』을 통해 본 조선시대 여성지성의 의식과 지향

Abstract

The records of Yuhandang is the fictional text, that wrote the life of Yuhandang the fictional character. The title is found in the list of books which was written in 19th, and there are 36 versions of the text. So I suppose it was widely read among Joseon's high class women. This text which pretended to be a record of Yuhandang's life is comprised of her behavior and mainly dialog with her family. The questions and answers among Yuhandang and her elder brother, husband, parents-in-law, sons and daughters and grandsons and granddaughters etc. show the process of her learning and teaching. So it seems to be a records of education. It ranges from interpretations of Confucian's canons to origin of thing's name, method of child-rearing, like a encyclopedia. The postscripts of versions say that Joseon's high class women regarded this text as some kind of moral text. But the eruditeness and critical view on the gender knowledge transgress the line which limited the freedom of Joseon's women and made them stay in their home. Yuhandang is similar the Joseon's female intellectuals, who could not achieve what they wanted in real life. The writer who is supposed to be a women may surpass the limits and oppressions in fictional text.
