Abstract
Cotton fabrics were dyed using distilled water extract of Tagetes patula L. at various conditions. The colorant was analyzed by spectrophotometer for the maximum wave length. The optimum dyeing conditions of colorant were studied at various dye concentrations, dyeing temperatures, and dyeing time. Color difference and colorfastness of the dyed fabrics were studied at pre, syn, and post-mordanting states. The maximum wave length was 372nm. The optimum dyeing condition of colorant of Tagetes patula L. were 200% owf, 60℃, 30minutes. Cu-pre mordanted cotton fabric showed highest values of dyeaffinity and dye fastnesses including light, rubbing, washing and perspiration. The surface colors of the dyed fabrics depended upon the kinds of mordant and mordant methods.
