폭력 영상매체 노출에 따른 청소년 비행연구 -사회학습 이론과 둔감화 이론을 중심으로-

텔레비전 시청은 청소년이나 어린이들의 생활시간에서 상당한 양을 차지하고 있다. 텔레비전 시청은 가족이 함께하는 활동으로서 부모와 자식 간의 상호작용 기회를 주기도 하지만, 그 상호작용은 건강하지 못한 경우가 많다. 즉 부모와 자식들이 어떤 프로그램을 어느 시간에 얼마만큼 시청하느냐의 문제로서 갈등을 겪을 수도 있기 때문이다. 특히 폭력적인 프로그램에 대한 시청은 청소년들의 정신 및 육체에 부정적인 결과를 초래하기 때문에 부모님의 적절한 지도가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 청소년들의 영상매체 노출 중 폭력적인 프로그램 노출에 따른 폭력모방과 폭력의 일상적 수용을 중심으로 설문조사를 실시하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 가설1은 영상매체에 많이 노출될수록 모방성향이 높아진다는 예측을 검증한 결과 평균을 통해서 노출이 많을수록 모방성향이 높게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 일반적인 프로그램이나 영화 역시 모방에 대한 청소년들의 성향이 높아짐으로써 배우들의 외형, 내면 등에 대한 동경이 그대로 전달된다고 할 것이다. 가설2는 TV보다는 인터넷을 통해서 폭력적인 장면에 노출될수록 폭력에 대한 모방경험이 높게 나타나는 것으로 폭력에 대한 장면이 TV보다 인터넷이 더욱 청소년들에게 모방의 경험을 유도하였다. 가설3은 폭력적인 영상매체 노출정도에 따른 일상적인 생활폭력 수용수준에 차이가 나타났다. 가설4는 청소년의 비행과 폭력적인 영상매체 모방 수준에 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 가설5의 경우 부모의 지도에 따른 폭력 모방이나 수용 수준에 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 청소년들에게 반드시 부모님의 지도와 관심이 필요함을 보여주고 있다. 가설 6과7의 연구결과는 청소년들에게 반드시 부모님의 지도와 관심이 필요함을 보여주고 있다. 연구결과는 청소년들의 TV시청이나 인터넷 영상매체 특히 폭력적인 영상매체 이용이 폭력모방이나 수용에 깊은 관련성을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 적절한 TV시청 지도를 위해서 학교와 학부모는 관심이 필수적이다. 학교에서는 미디어를 올바르게 이용할 수 있는 미디어교육을 지속적으로 실시하고 가정에서는 TV 시청보다 부모와의 대화를 유도하고 TV 시청 시 적절한 규제가 반드시 필요하다. 그렇게 할 때 청소년들의 올바른 인격형성에 필수적이며, 매년 심각해지는 청소년들의 폭력을 예방하는 데 큰 효과가 있을 것이다.
Abstract
TV watching occupies considerable amount of time in the life of children or adolescents. TV watching is a kind of family activity and seems to provide parents and children opportunities of interaction, but this interaction is unhealthy in general. It is because parents and children can experience conflicts between them with the issue of time and quantity of TV watching. In particular, violent TV programs bring negative effects to the mind and body of adolescents and therefore watching on it needs parents' proper guidance. The aim of this study was to examine the current status of adolescents' imitation of violence and routine acceptance of it and then present some improvement strategies of it, focusing on their exposure to the violent program of visual media. For this, a questionnaire survey was carried out and some study hypotheses were established. It seems that when adolescents' exposure to visual media increases, their imitative disposition increases too in average. In addition, common visual programs or movies also seem to enhance adolescents' disposition of imitation and deliver them the yearning for actors or actresses' internality and externality. Study findings are as follows:Regarding hypothesis 2, the imitation of violence is severer in adolescents' exposure to the Internet than to TV. Violent scenes of Internet are more appealing to adolescents' imitative disposition than those of TV. Regarding hypothesis 3, the acceptance of violence in everyday life is corresponding to the extent of exposure to violent visual media. Regarding hypothesis 4, there is no correlation between adolescents' delinquency and their level of visual media imitation. In case of hypothesis 5, parents' guidance has influence upon adolescents' imitation and acceptance of violence. This finding shows that adolescents definitely need parents' guidance and concern for their watching on TV. Correspondingly, test results of hypotheses 6 and 7 also show that adolescents certainly need parents' guidance and concern about their TV watching. In conclusion, adolescents' watching on TV or use of Internet visual media, especially violent visual media, has great influence upon their imitation and acceptance of violence. Therefore, teachers and parents must properly guide adolescents for their TV watching. Media education must be continuously provided in the school in order for adolescents to use media correctly. In addition, a family must induce not TV watching but conversation with parents, and properly control children's TV watching. These measures are necessary to form adolescents' appropriate personality and will be greatly effective in preventing adolescents' violence which increases its severity day after day.
