The present paper analyzes not only syntactic causatives but also lexical and morphological causatives as computational processes based on the minimalist program. The present paper shows that semantic differences between lexical and morphological causatives on the one hand and syntactic ones on the other hand lie in the number of tense features. In syntactic causatives, the causing events and the caused events have separate tense features permitting temporal mediacy between them. It means that the causing events do not necessarily implicate the caused events. In lexical and morphological causatives, on the other hand, the causing events and the caused events share the same tense features. Because the causing events and the caused events share the same tense features, there is no temporal mediacy between the causing events and the caused events making the causing events implicate the caused events.
