이 연구의 목적은 u-러닝 환경을 수행하는 연구에 참여한 20개의 연구학교 학생들을 대상으로 학업성취도, 만족도 및 효과성 인식 측면의 u-러닝 효과성을 조사하는 것이다. 연구학교의 학생들은 타블렛 PC(TPC), 울트라 모바일 PC(UMPC), PDA, 매킨토시 랩톱 컴퓨터 등 다양한 모바일 학습 도구를 이용하였다. 1주제 연구학교의 학생들은 TPC와 UMPC를 이용하였고, 2주제 연구학교 학생들은 사이버가정학습을 이용하였다. 3주제 연구학교의 학생들은 매킨토시 노트북을 이용하였다. 그리고 이러한 u-러닝 기기를 이용한 다양한 교수 학습 전략이 각 연구학교에서 개발, 적용되었다. 효과성 분석 결과 학업 성취도에 있어서는 대체적으로 연구반과 통제반이 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 두 초등학교에서 국어와 사회 교과에서 연구반이 통제반에 비하여 유의미하게 높은 점수 차이를 나타냈다. 만족도와 효과성 인식 측면에서는 대체적으로 보통 수준이었으나 3주제 연구학교가 1, 2주제에 비하여 높은 점수를 보였다. 개방적 응답에서는 u-러닝이 학습태도, 학습의 흥미와 집중력 향상, 상호작용 증대, 학력 향상의 기대, 학습 소외 학생들의 감소 등의 측면에서 긍정적으로 작용하고 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구를 통하여 향후 u-러닝 적용 과정에서 시행착오를 줄이고 좀 더 발전적 모델을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
This study is to investigate the effects of ubiquitous learning (u-learning) on learning achievement, satisfaction and perceptions of students. 20 schools participated in this study to implement u-learning environment. More specifically, students were given various mobile learning tools such as Tablet PC (TPC), Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC), Personal Display Assistant (PDA), and Macintosh laptop computer. We analyzed the operating conditions of 1st type subject based on Tablet PC(TPC) and Ultra Mobile PC(UMPC), 2nd type subject based on cyber home education system, and 3rd type subject based on Macintosh notebook PC in u-learning research schools and checked the effectiveness as results from it. Different instructional strategies using these tools have been applied to classes. The result shows that there was no significant difference in learning performance in general: however, in two elementary schools, the experimental classes had higher performance scores in language art and social studies than the control classes. On the other hand, positive perceptions regarding satisfaction and future use were found in all schools. Based on the results, this paper proposes a practical framework of employment of u-learning.
