Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the structures and aspects of the boundary noun in the Korean noun sequences. Also the parsing rules on Korean noun sequences are presented. Though several nouns form the noun sequences, the syntactic structure and the function of the noun sequences are different. The bound noun except the unit bound noun, the connective free noun and the free noun with [time] property belong to the boundary nouns. The boundary nouns have the syntactic structural property as the boundary mark of the phrase or the clause. The structures of the noun sequences with the boundary noun are divided into three types. It is important for the distributions and the properties of the boundary nouns to form the syntactic structure of the Korean noun sequences. Based on the linguistic information, this paper shows the rules of parsing on Korean noun sequences. (Korea University)
