본 연구는 초등학교 저학년 학생의 생명 존중 의식을 향상시키기 위하여 초등 1학년 교육과정을 분석 하여 식물 번식과 관련된 학습 요소를 추출하고 이를 학습내용과 통합 후 수준별 활동으로 구성하였다. 또한 이를 재량학습을 통하여 서울시에 위치한 Y초등학교 1학년을 대상으로 식물번식 프로그램을 실시하고 이와 연관된 영향을 조사하였다. 양적 조사는 생명 존중 의식의 변화를 조사하였으며 이때 하위영역은 인간생명 존중, 동물생명 존중, 식물 생명 존중, 통합 생명 존중 등으로 구성하였으며 결과는 실험반과 비교반을 t-검정을 통해 분석하였다. 또한 질적 조사는 식물 번식 프로그램 후 실험반과 비교반을 대상으로 식물에 관한 역할극, 식물에 관한 시쓰기, 생명에 관한 연상하기를 생명 존중 의식과 관련된 각각의 영역에 해당하는 조작적 정의에 따라 단어를 분류하여 영역에 따른 어휘수 변화를 분석하였다. 결과적으로 식물 번식 학습 프로그램의 적용은 초등학교 저학년 학생의 생명에 대한 생각을 지식적인 측면만이 아닌 생명에 대한 사랑과 다정한 마음을 내면화키고 이를 통하여 학생의 인간, 동물, 식물, 통합 생명 존중 의식을 향상시키는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 식물 번식 프로그램의 적용은 자신과 사람의 생명만이 아니라, 다른 사람들과 동물, 그리고 식물과 자연까지 살아있는 소중한 존재임을 알게 하여, 인간, 동물, 식물 그리고 더 나아가 지구상의 모든 것이 함께 살아가는 것이라는 것임을 알 수 있도록 하는 긍정적 태도를 갖게 하였다.
Abstract
This research analyze the textbook of 1st graders to organize plant propagation program which was based on the 1st graders educational process. Plant propagation program was also conducted to inspect the effect of plant propagation activities on the changes of life respect consciousness of 1st graders of elementary school. The changes of life respect consciousness was examined by the questionnaire which have 4 sub categories as 'human life respect', 'animal life respect', 'plant life respect' and 'life respect' as quantitative data by paired t-test. To validate the qualitative changes of 1st graders, student wrote a poem, do a role play and think of words associated with life-respectiveness. To analyze the qualitative changes of student, we classified the words by the operational definition of each words. As result, the plant propagation program was effective for the students to have more attention of life respect consciousness. And not only the program let elementary students realize that not only humans were valuable things but also plants and mother nature were all living organisms and that all living things on earth were living together. They also realize that destructing nature means threatening our own lives. In conclusion, the plant propagation program had positive effects on elementary low graders for their life respect consciousness and to have more positive attitude toward the all living things in earth were together and precious things.
