Indirect language plays a critical role in everyday communication, yet the study of sexual innuendo remains underexplored. This research examines the pragmatic features of sexual innuendo, focusing on covert versus overt communication, indirectness, deniability, and standardization. It investigates whether sexual innuendo constitutes a speech act, implicature, or a unified communicative phenomenon. Through cross-linguistic analysis of English and Korean examples, this study identifies universal characteristics of sexual innuendo and its sociocultural implications. These findings directly respond to the research questions posed, offering a deeper understanding of how indirect language conveys sensitive intentions while navigating social taboos.
