율곡의 大器 大音의 문예 의식

율곡은 순언이라는 도덕경 주석서를 쓴 바 있는데, 그러한 사상적 배경은 그의 문예 의식에도 많은 영향을 미쳐, 그의 문학론 전체에 유기적으로 관련되어 있다. 본고는 그런 점에 착안하여, 율곡의 문학론이 ‘기의 온축을 통한 大器 大音의 문예 의식’에 있음을 주시하고, 그것이 가진 특성과 함께 이것의 사상적 기반이 순언과 매우 밀접한 관련이 있음을, 그러한 도가 사상의 영향 속에서 나온 것임을 밝혀보았다. 그가 말하는 大器란 다름 아니라 마음의 沖을 이룩한 상태이며, 대기에서 나오는 大音은 그 沖氣가 소리로 발현된 것이다. 대음을 위한 기의 온축이란 바로 마음을 비우는 것이며, 그 비움을 통해 沖氣를 배양하는 것이었다. 그래서 대음의 발생은 그 존재태에 있어서나 발생 방식에 있어서나 모두 무위를 지향한다. 무위란 비움을 통해 ‘나’를 지운 것이기 때문이다. 나를 지웠기에 곧 천지와 하나가 될 수 있고, 천지와 하나가 되었기에 造化의 자연스러움에 절로 동참할 수 있는 것이다. 그런 까닭에 도의 실현으로써의 그의 문학론은 곧 무위의 자연스러움을 강조하는 沖의 미학이라고 할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Mr. Yulgok once wrote a handbook of [moral rules] called [Sooneon] and such ideological background had affected a lot on his sense of literature that is deeply related to his overall literatures. In this thesis, I have, perceiving such point, tried to prove that his literature is rooted in 'literal sense which is based on large device and large sound through the accumulation of Ki/spirit and together with characteristics it has, his ideological foundation is closely related to <Sooneon) and it came from the influence of Oriental DOGA ideology. What he meant by large bowl is the status of emptiness of mind and a large sound from a large bowl is expressed in sound in the status of that CHUNGGI (spirit of emptiness). Accumulation of warmth for a large sound mean to vacate the mind and through such emptiness, we nurture such CHUNGGI (spirit of emptiness). Therefore, creation of a large sound seeks after all idleness (doing nothing) both in its existence and creation. Because idleness is to erase 'myself' through vacating. As I erased myself, I could become one with the sky and the earth and by being one with the world, I could participate in the nature of harmony (Creator) naturally and automatically. Therefore, his literal theory as the implementation of DO is the same as aesthetics of emptiness that emphasizes the beauty of idleness, that is, CHUNG (vacating).
