초등학생의 도움 읽기(guided reading)활동이 영어 읽기능력과 읽기흥미도 신장에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 초등학교 4학년 학생 29명을 대상으로 도움 읽기(guided reading)활동을 실시하고, 이러한 도움 읽기 활동이 초등학생들의 문해 능력, 나아가 영어 읽기이해 능력및 영어 읽기 흥미도에 어떤 영향을 주는가를 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 자료로는사전⋅후 읽기 능력 검사결과와 읽기 흥미도를 측정하기 위해 설문지가 사용되었다. 연구의 결과, 도움 읽기활동이 초등학교 4학년 학생의 문해 능력과 텍스트 이해력에 의미있는 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 함께 아동들의 읽기에 대한 흥미도에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 다시 말하여, 초등학교 4학년 학생들에게 도움읽기을 통한 영어 읽기 지도를 한다면 아동들이 영어를 습득하는데 더 효과적인 결과를낼 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다. 이와 같은 도움 읽기를 효과적으로 하기 위한 교재 선택을 위해 교사들을 위한 제언과 시사점을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate how elementary school children’s guided reading activity affected their literacy and reading comprehension, and interests in reading. Twenty-nine elementary school children participated in this study. Data were obtained scores from pre- and post- reading comprehension tests,and questionnaires of reading interest. Those data were analyzed by a statistical method for descriptive information, and for correlational relation. The findings of the study indicated that 1) elementary school children’s guided reading activity affected significantly their literacy and reading comprehension, and 2) elementary school children’s guided reading activity made a positive influence on children’s reading attitude. Through this elementary school children’s guided reading activity, it can be pointed out that developing this kind of reading activity should be implemented in the elementary classroom for their literacy and reading comprehension ability. It is suggested that to accelerate the students’ target language development. text materials students experience should go beyond their textbook levels, and a variety of reading materials and activities should be implemented.
