철학적 질문으로 가득 찬 『거울나라』(Through Looking-glass)는 앨리스의 모험을 통해 언어의 넌센스 놀이를 제시한다. 『거울나라』에서 앨리스의 모험과 넌센스놀이는 순수 사건의 시간(미친 시간과 아이온의 시간)과 그에 따른 역설적 언어의 전개로 이루어진다. 이 과정 중에 앨리스의 정체성은 와해되고 언어는 분열증적으로 분화된다. 분열증적 언어이론 중심으로 『거울나라』에 나타난 언어의 유희와 칸트의 숭고미학의 특징적 전개에서 그 유사성을 살펴본다. 『거울나라』의 언어는 ‘포트망토 언어’로 이루어진 「재버워키」 시를 통해서 제시된다. 이 넨센스시는 이접적 종합원리처럼 ‘되기’(becoming)의 과정으로 제시되어 그 시의 충격적 새로움으로 전개된다. 되기의 이접적 종합에 따라 언어는 대상에 대한 지시적 기능을 넘어서 폭력적 힘, 즉 ‘재버워키’와 같은 ‘괴물’처럼 제시된다. 이러한 언어의 괴물의 특징이 거울나라의 거울의 무한한 반복논리와 같은 ‘시물라크르’ 의 나쁜 복사가 끊임없이 전개되어 오직 그 되기 과정 자체만 긍정되는 상황으로 연결되는 과정이 긍정된다. 이 시물라크르의 과정 자체는 바로 숭고적 과정과 연계해서 이해할 수 있는 논리를 거울나라의 넌센스 시의 특징과 연관된다. 넌센스의 논리에서 숭고의 발생과정을 거울의 무한 반복 원리를 시뮬라크르로 이해할 할 수 있다. 숭고감정은 우리의 인식을 넘어서는 압도적인 대상을 마주할 때 상상력의 한계에 직면하고 그 한계로 인해 역설적으로 무한을 감지하는 ‘무한의 현시’ 작용이다. 나아가 ‘무한의 이념’을 파토스 논리로 구성하는 마음의능력에 따라 시의 상징적 요소의 극한을 숭고 작용의 차원에서 넌센스 시의 논리로 추구할 수 있다. 앨리스가 체험하는 ‘난폭한 힘’은 카오스적 무질서의 ‘광기’와 같은 혼란한 상태에서 ‘나’라는 인식이전의 무의식적 체험으로 인식하는 한에서 그 힘을 온전히 느끼는 체험으로서 ‘숭고’체험인 바이다. 현실의 시간의 흐름을 거스르는 ‘미친시간’이라는 환상(phantomwise)의 세계에서만 가능하다. 거울나라의 꿈과 거울의 왜곡의 실험은 어린시절의 단순한 추억보다는 ‘아이-되기’(becoming-child)이며 현실의 가능성을 다양하게 실험하는 것이다. 그렇다면 그 수많은 ‘넌센스’적 언어의 유희와 앨리스가 지하세계와 거울나라에서 체험하는 굉장히 공포스러운 모험들의 작동원리를 적극 긍정하기 위한 접근이 중요하다. 이와 같이 본 연구는 칸트의 『판단력비판』의 숭고미학과 들뢰즈의 『의미의 논리』를 중심으로 루이스 캐럴의 『거울나라』의 앨리스의 모험에 나타난 언어의 역설적 특징과 사건의 시간에서 발생하는 정체성의 와해 등을 살펴본다.
Abstract
Through the Looking Glass, full of philosophical questions, is connected to the problem of modern philosophy through the play of language and Alice’s adventure. In The Looking Glass, Alice’s adventure consists of the time of pure events and the development of paradoxical language. By analyzing the play of language in The Looking Glass focusing on the schizophrenic language theory, the characteristics of sublime aesthetics can be examined more deeply in the literary dimension. The “Jabberwocky” composed of ‘Portmanteau words’ can be analyzed with the principle of heterogeneity. According to the disjunctive synthesis, the language is presented as a ’monster’ of Jabberwocky in functioning the violent force of the sublime beyond language’s function of directing the object. It can be compared with the process of sublime occurrence in the logic of nonsense. Sublime feeling is the “infinitive presentation” through the limit of imagination when facing an overwhelming object beyond our perception and paradoxically senses infiniteness due to the limit. In this regard, the “violence” Alice faces is the result of the ‘sublime’ experience as an unconscious experience before the perception of ‘I’ in a confused state of chaos. It is possible only in the world of fantasy called ’mad time’ that goes against the flow of time in reality. The experiment of looking glass’s dream and distortion is to be ‘becoming-child’ rather than simple memories of childhood and to experiment various possibilities of reality. Therefore, It is important to approach the play of many ‘nonsense’ languages and to positively affirm the working principles of the very horror adventures Alice experiences in the Wonderland and Looking-Glass. This study examines the paradoxical characteristics of language in Alice’s adventures in Through Looking Glass and the breakdown of identity in the time of events[Aion], focusing on the sublime aesthetics of Kant’s Critique of the Power of Judgement and Deleuze’s The Sense of Logic.
