모바일 앱 활용 영어 문법 학습이 대학생의 문법 능력 향상에 미친 영향 및 학습 만족도와 학습의 유용성에 대한 연구

본 연구는 한국 대학생 14명을 대상으로 모바일 앱을 활용한 영어 문법수업에서 학습자의 문법 능력 향상과 수업의 만족도 및 학습의 유용성을알아보았다. 연구는 질적연구와 양적연구로 이루어졌으며 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 학습자의 문법 능력 향상에는 유의미한 결과를 얻지 못했지만학습자의 수업 만족도는 학습자가 모바일 앱을 활용한 문제 풀이 방법과언제 어디서나 학습이 가능하다는 접근성의 편리함에 가장 만족하였으며모바일 학습 앱을 꾸준히 사용할 의향을 밝혔다. 모바일 앱을 이용한 학습의 유용성에서는 모바일 문법 앱을 통한 다양한 자료의 이용과 본인의취약점을 알 수 있고 문법 문제 풀이 시간 관리가 용이한 점에서 학습자가 유용성을 높게 평가하였다. 하지만, 모바일 기기의 화면이 작아 가독성이 떨어져 장시간 집중하는데 어려움이 있기 때문에 교재 학습보다는선호하지 않는다는 의견도 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 기반으로 모바일을활용한 학습은 모바일 환경의 특성과 면대 면 수업을 의미 있게 연결하여 활용해야 학생들의 참여와 교수자의 역할이 조화를 이뤄 효과적인 결과를 이끌어 낼 수 있다고 사료된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of mobile app-based grammar learning and college students’ satisfaction and usefulness about mobile app-based class. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from 14 Korean college students. To find out the usefulness of mobile app-based grammar learning, the data were analyzed through paired samples. The participants’ perceived satisfaction and usefulness about mobile app-based English grammar class were examined through analyzing questionnaire and interview data. Results showed that there was no significant difference between the pre- and post-test in the English grammar measure, which indicates that learning with a mobile app did not significantly and positively affect the development of the students' English grammar proficiency. However, the students' perceptions on satisfaction and usefulness of mobile learning were positive. Pedagogical implications were provided based on the findings.
