Abstract

Unlike in the past, Chinese characters have been digitized and stored as a lot of data. This provides ease of searching, collecting, and analyzing various materials that can cultivate each individual's values and personality beyond the limited scope of Chinese sentences in textbooks. This presentation is an example of a class on ‘Chinese Characters and Humanity’ that appeared in the 2015 revised curriculum. This is a class in which students think about their own values or outlook on life, and directly search, collect, analyze, edit and present Chinese text data that can explain them. This is a case of devising and implementing a class that meets the achievement standards of reading Chinese sentences containing the wisdom and thoughts of our ancestors, understanding the contents and themes, and cultivating sound values and correct character. Through the class, students searched digital materials to obtain materials suitable to explain their view of life or values, and identified the contents and topics contained in the collected materials. In the process of making and presenting the presentation, I was able to understand the contents and themes contained in the record anew, and to recognize the wisdom and thought of the ancestors contained in it. In the course of the presentation, the students demonstrated their communication skills, such as logically explaining their view of life and values, and listening to and persuading others. The students' impressions after class informed the need for a change in Chinese character education classes in the classroom in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and in the era of digitalization and informationization, Chinese characters are not unnecessary, but are helpful in cultivating human values and humanity. has been shown to be the main source.
