This paper has clarified the hidden function and role of the "mori(scred shrine forest) device ", which is the representation of the scenery in a picture, by analyzing 119 sheets of Meisho Edo Hyakkei (One Hundred Famous Views of Edo), which is published in the end of Edo period by Hiroshige Utagawa,under view point of geography of religion with both quantitative and qualitative perspectives.
