초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the representation of temple force which is united with Heike among the religious forces in the Heike monogatari, one of the medieval Gunkimonotari, and to study the influence of the movement of the temple force on the direction of Heike. It will be related to reveal the creation of Heike monogatari by author. The main theme of Heike monogatari is the Genpei War between the Taira and Minamoto clans. but it is safe to say that the author devoted half of his work to introducing episodes of ‘evil deeds’ by Heike and because of evil deeds, Heike had no choice but to be destroyed. However, evil deeds are mainly defined in the unique religious thought from the ancient Japanese era and there are religious forces of Buddhism and Shintoism, as well as the existence of the mythological statements. Among them, the activities of the temple force are outstanding. In these reasons, I sheded light on the temple force, the important element that cannot be overlooked in the Heike monogatari. Because there is a certain aspect of the expression given to Heike and the movement of the temples force is found to affect destiny of Heike. I also examined what period context and influence the author wrote Heike monogatari and what purpose he used religious ideas and forces in the monogatari world. By analysing Heike monogatari, the creation of the work is believed to be related to the time when the authority of the imperial family and the regent fell to the ground after Jōkyū War. The royal family and regent, threatened by Samurai, might have to spread the idea that their authority and political life must be kept. so they might have to have the author create heikenogatari by infusing Buddhism and Shintoism into the work. The story has an idea that those who try to stand against the royal family and regent will be doomed such as Heike. In the process, the author also revealed the emergence of temple forces which were associated with each family, giving them an important role in connecting negative expressions and determining Heike's fate in the Heike monogatari.
