坂口安吾「文学のふるさと」と「日本文化私観」論⁕ ー 伝統と美への認識 ー

Abstract

Ango, Sakaguchi is a well-known Japanese author who wrote in various styles. For instance, he wrote realistic novels, fantasies, autobiographical novels, and also historical one, even farces. Generally speaking, we can call him as a decadent writer. But the decadent tendency was a result of his rhetorical intent. His literature was made from a serious root. He was also a critic of Japanese culture. Especially, "A personal opinion on Japanese culture" is a representative critical work by him. His thinking reached to the essence of beauty and tradition through this critical work. This essay is a study of his critical work " A personal opinion on Japanese culture."
