Abstract

This study attempts to explore how life and death have become embodied and traditional in Japanese literature. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between death and literature with classical Japanese literature works as the subject of research on what it means to experience death. In particular, Japanese writers tried to examine the sentiment of accepting death through literary works, and ultimately tried to understand how the Japanese people's perception of life and death, and their perspective on life and death, were inherited and became a literary tradition. First, focusing on communication with the dead (attention and memorial), we look at works (preceptions) that show how the emotions of the loss of the living and recovery of the dead are achieved. We will examine the narratives about the death of the other, analyze what the problem of death is, and discuss emotions that can be understood as sympathy of mourning and memorial based on the analysis. To this end, we analyzed and examined the emotions of the living toward the dead through various literary genres such as Japanese myths, monogatari, diary travel, and folktales. Second, focusing on the last voice of Japanese writers left in the face of their deaths, zise:, how they are conscious of death and want to organize their lives, and explore the literary traditions and present succession of the four states. zise: is a word about ending the world and death, which is broadly the same as 'will', but if the will is a future request to convey his treatment after his death to his family, such as his family, zise: aims for the past to concisely oversee his life that he has lived so far.
