고려시대 제주 지역의 對蒙抗戰 관련 유적과 그 활용 방향

Abstract

The Anti-Mongolian resistance during the Koryo period that continued around 40 years can be said as the longest and the most persistent one in the over-2000-year history of the fights against the invasions from outside the country. In particular, the struggle against the Mongolian forces proceeded in relation with the Jeju region, where Sambyeolcho, the special capital defense unit, continued its resistance against the Mongolian forces until the end. Those historical remains are still found in Jeju, scattered around it. Those sites are also valuable for their beautiful scenery and ecological uniqueness. Between 1977 and 1978, part of the fortress in Hangpaduri was repaired and restored and a monument was erected within the fortress in honor of the spirits of the military unit. Recently, proposals have been made to preserve and utilize the fortress in Hangpaduri. In this connection, it is recommendable to create the cultural and educational tour course for experiencing the uniqueness of Jeju? scenery and ecology as well as the history of resistance against outer forces and to further develop it into a live educational ground.
