라쎈 화산 국립공원은 캘리포니아 북동쪽에 있는 국립공원이다. 공원의 라쎈 피크는 세계에서 가장 큰 용암원정구로 캐스케이드 산맥의 남쪽에 있는 화산이다. 본 지역의 화산활동을 위한 열은 캘리포니아 북쪽 해안에서 북아메리카 판 아래로 고다판이 섭입하면서 시작된다. 라쎈 화산 국립공원은 분석구 국립 기념물과 라쎈 피크 국립 기념물로 나누어진다. 본 공원은 성층화산, 화산 도옴, 순상화산, 분석구와 같은 4개의 화산형태를 모두 포함하는 화산활동에 대한 살아 있는 박물관이다. 또한 다양한 형태의 온천, 간헐천, 분기공, 화도와 그 외의 지열특징들이 있다. 가장 최근의 화산활동 흔적들을 간직하고 있는 것들은 케이오스 크렉그와 케이오스 점불스를 비롯하여 붐파스 헬, 붐파스 산, 분석구, 크레이터 뷰트, 황폐 지역, 페어필드 피크, 햇 마운틴, 핫 록크, 라바 도움, 마운트 헬렌, 설퍼 웍스 등이 있다. 라쎈 피크는 세계에서 가장 큰 용암원정구의 하나로 1914년에서 1917년 사이에 분출하였다.
Abstract
Lassen Volcanic National Park is a United States National Park in north eastern California. Lassen Peak is the largest plug dome volcano in the world and the southern-most volcano in the Cascade Range. Lassen Volcanic National Park started as two separate national monuments : Cinder Cone National Monument and Lassen Peak National Monument. The source of heat for volcanism in the Lassen area is subduction off the Northern California coast of the Gorda Plate diving below the North American Plate. Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the few areas in the world where all four types of volcano can be found. That is plug dome, shield, cinder cone, and strato. Several groups of hot springs and fumaroles, geyser, volcanic vein exist in Lassen Volcanic Park. The most recent large eruption produced Chaos Crags, Chaos Jumbles, Bumpass Hell, Bumpass mountain, Cinder Cone, Crater Butte, Devastated Area, Fairfield Peak, Hat Mountain, Hot Rock, Lava Dome, Mount Helen, Sulphur Works. The most recent eruptions in the Lassen area were occurred between 1914 and 1917.
