석유화학단지의 개발에 따른 대산읍의 토지이용과 취락경관의 변화

본 연구는 대산지역에 석유화학단지가 개발되면서 지역의 경관변화에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 분석하였다. 연구지역은 1990년대 석유화학공업에 대한 투자 자유화와 중국과 가까운 지리적 이점에 의해 석유화학단지가 조성되어 현재는 한국의 3대 석유화학단지로 성장하였다. 1980년대 말부터 대규모 부지를 확보하기 위해 해안의 작은 만을매립하면서 복잡했던 해안선이 직선으로 단순해졌다. 또한, 석유화학단지 조성에 따른 폭발적인 인구유입과 함께1990년대 초반까지 어업중심의 경제구조가 제조업과 서비스업 중심의 경제구조로 변화되었다. 그 결과, 석유화학단지 입지 이후의 지역경관은 염전과 농경지, 산림지 등 전체적으로 비슷한 경관에서 북부는 2차 산업, 대산남부는 3차산업, 서부·동부는 1차 산업과 관련된 경관으로 구분되는 특성이 나타난다.
Abstract
The study analyzed the impact of a petrochemical industry complex development on the landscape change and land-use in Daesan-eup which is located in the west coast of South Korea. The industry complex developed in 1990s following investment liberalization in the petrochemical industry and it was located on the study area in terms of its location near China. It became the third-largest petrochemical industry complex in South Korea. The study area had an irregular shoreline. However it was modified to a linear shoreline by land reclamation projects mainly in small bays for securing large-scale sites during the last 1990s. In addition to the change, the major element of economic structure changed from fishing to manufacture and service affected by growth of population since the development of industry complex in the early 1990s. As the result, the composition of economic landscape was changed. The landscape is comprised with elements of primary industries, such as salt farm, agricultural area, and forest over the study area. Recently, however, the secondary industries are major elements in the northern area, and the manufacture and service industries are major elements in the southern area. The eastern and western areas are almost covered with the primary industries.
