초록

This study aims to explore the naturalness of Young-ga-mu-do, and to explain the real practice of Young-ga-mu-do, especially focused on the principle and characteristic. The interpretational frame of concepts are the Korean traditional idea, Um-yang(陰陽)&O-haeng(五行). Young-ga-mu-do is to chant a long sound, and sing a song, and then even with faster singing to dance and jump. The Um-yang are made by separating and combining itself of Taeguk(太極). And the O-haeng are known as the vital components of the universe in the Eastern philosophy; water(水), fire(火), wood(木), metal(金), and earth(土) are. Young(詠), Ga(歌), and Mu-do(舞蹈) have five sounds; Um[um], A[ɑ], Eo[ə], Yi[i:], Woo[u:]. These five sounds start from the five viscera(of spleen, lungs, liver, heart and kidneys) and are drawn up following a breath-way in curve. By pulling up the breath from Hadanjeon(下丹田) and moving the body in curve(궁글리기), the breath can come out drawing a curve way. This curved way of the breath symbolize Taeguk-line. The pitch of the melody represents Um-yang; the high sound is Yang, the opposite low sound is Um. Conclusively explained that Young-ga-mu-do has three principles; first, interaction between mind, gi(氣), and body, second, the harmony of Ohaeng of the body, third, Shinmyeong(神明). The characteristic of it is naturalness in one word. Specifically, the vibration of the five viscera by breathing, repetition of the same melody, freedom and naturalness, and wholistic solve by beating the body.
