TV드라마 <다모(茶母)>의 서술 방식과 재현 방식 연구

Abstract

Television as media is characterized by usualness, segmental reception, presentness, privateness. Accordingly television drama has its distinctive style of representation which distinguishes itself from that of play or cinema, and provides audience with impressions exclusive to it. This paper aims to discuss the aesthetical characteristics of television drama, especially focusing on the narrative techniques and the forms of representation in the TV drama <Damo>. <Damo> arouses suspense by retarding the moments of discovery. The repetitive retardations of the discovering moments function as a way of evoking and holding audience's curiosity and tension, who receives the narrative segmentally during the long telecasting period. It also leads receivers to recognize character's feeling and sympathize with the character by representing character's self-confessional memory with reminisce. Finally, <Damo> makes audience remember and revitalize his or her own memory and feeling by representing events and feelings through audiovisual images which complexly consist of close-up, music and voices of characters. In this way, <Damo> exemplifies a new style of construction by utilizing the narrative techniques and the forms of representation of television drama which stems from its characteristic as medium, thereby evaluated as a work which created unique aesthetic impressions to audience.
