Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers' interest, application and obstacle factor on the dance education curriculum at elementary school. I had intended to put a verdict on the present situation of dance education curriculum and provide basic data required for developing the new dance education curriculum. Surveys were conducted on the current 150 elementary school teachers at Taejon Metropolitan City. The study was analyzed differences of sex distinction, level of education, teaching experience and classification of teacher. It was found out the interest, application and obstacle factor by means of questionnaires which were developed from the Texas University Teacher Education Laboratory. The concerns profile like frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-squre, one-way ANOVA and Scheff´e test were used to analyze the data that was collected. Statistical techniques to analyze the data were used a SPSS program. On the whole, the fact that teachers are still maintaining low level of interest and application on the dance education curriculum. Also it was found that teachers of high interest on the dance education curriculum were higher in interest on the curriculum. Therefore, an effort should be made th revise the curriculum letting teachers taking major role in the process of developing and implementing the curriculum at school. The dance subject to become independent from a physical subject and the place the possibility of doing in order to be with one subject, there must be effort of the dance specialists.
