초록

This study is to research the ‘art figure’ whom Oskar Schlemmer searches for in <Triadic Ballet>, that is, the art figure who both keeps the quality of the machine age and has the relationship with space. For this purpose, costume and mask as the core media for creating an art figure are examined in <Triadic Ballet>. The fruits of the study are as follows:1. Schlemmer rejects, in his representative work <Triadic Ballet>, a verbal expression accompanied with emotion and a passionate expression of motion, and embodies the possibility of the theatrical art which searches for the pure motion of human being. 2. In order to express what can’t be mechanized in the age when everything becomes mechanized, he chooses a mechanical and mathematical figure. 3. With the main technique of making good use of a tricot costume as a mask of the whole body, he leaves a human element for an art figure, that is, a mechanical and mathematical figure and makes an organic being remain. 4. Through ‘a dancer wearing a mask of the whole body’, he tries to reveal the dignity of a man who frees himself from the actual world. 5. With the pursuit of ‘a stereotyped figure’ and with the theme of human being, he attempts to reach the world of essence where exists behind the visible phenomenon.
