Abstract
This study aims to specifically reveal the connection between Confucian thought and Korean folk dance through the weeping perspective of Confucian philosophy, and to clarify that Korean dance is a process of reception and neu- tralization that achieves inner maturity. To this end, we systematically analyze the multi-layered meanings and philosophical implications inherent in Korean folk dance. Based on this, we established two concepts, first, the beauty of reception, and second, the beauty of Chineseization, and presented a research framework to systematically analyze the aesthetic value and philosophical intention of each concept. In addition, the artistic meaning of Korean folk dance was explained in detail. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, the beauty of recep- tion is closely linked to the intrinsic value of Korean folk dance. In other words, the beauty of reception is a key concept in Eastern philosophy, which seeks to elevate human character and achieve a harmonious life through personal reflection and moral perfection. This is deeply connected to the aesthetics of Korean folk dance, and is particularly evident in <Seungmu> as an essential element. Danc- ing <Seungmu> is not just about performing dance movements, but also about purifying one's emotions and gaining opportunities for self-reflection through the process of dancing. This is connected to the inner reflection emphasized in the process of reception, as the dancer's life experiences, philosophies, feelings, and reflections are contained in the dance, and appear as a product of his efforts to cultivate his inner self and practice moral enlightenment. Secondly, Zhonghua Mi focuses on elevating the aesthetic experience through the balance between emo- tional expression and restraint in Korean folk dance, and the harmony between inner depth and outer expression. In particular, “Jindo Drum Dance” is a work that embodies the Chinese principle of sangsung, which allows the dancer to fuse the rhythm and melody with emotion and excitement, and to sublimate it artistically. Therefore, the Chinese beauty of Jindo Drum Dance can be considered to maxi- mize the artistic and philosophical value of dance through the harmonious fusion of inner and outer worlds.
