고전소설 <뎐우치젼>과 영화 <전우치>의 서사구조 비교 연구

Abstract

This study aimed to identify how a classic novel text was created to a movie in detail. To this end, the analysis focused on the difference of narrative structures of the classic novel <Dyeonwuchijeon> and the movie <Jeonwuchi>. The classic novel <Dyeonwuchijeon> embodied the behaviors of Jeonwuchi, who pursued more improved world of enlightenment by saving the public and the weak, disciplining greedy men in power and wicked people and correcting his own unrighteous characters, in the narrative structure focusing on the public hero. Meanwhile, the movie <Jeonwuchi> described the process which Jeonwuchi protected <Manpasikjeok> by repelling the monsters in the fight to get <Manpasikjeok>, the mystery flute, and won the romantic love in the heroic and fantastic narrative structure. Although the movie <Jeonwuchi> has the same core narrative structure as that of the classic novel <Jeonwuichi>, it is necessary to deliberate the events and meaning in the movie with the focus on the difference. The movie <Jeonwuchi> contained the events occurred in various classes which made us deeply think about the human beings and modern society by connecting a variety of motives related to the folk tales, heavenly world, Joseon dynasty and modern age, in solemn scenes in some cases and amusing scenes in other cases. The story in this movie is very multi-layered and dynamic. The story is similar to our life and world. The story desires life and world and the life and world desires the story. They are similar but co-exist because the their differences. Thus, we can raise a fundamental question on our thinking system by meeting <Jeonwuchi> here and now, look into our devil characters inside us and weigh the value of love. Like a magical capability, a story has multiple aspects and the question and answer which is endlessly repeated.
