『설담집』「몽행록」의 시맨틱 데이터 모델 설계

설담 자우(雪潭自優)의 「몽행록(夢行錄)」은 승려 문집 및 불가 기문이 활발히 창작되던 18세기에 저술된 불가 유람기로, 한 달간 전북 일대를 유람한 체험을 기록하고 있다. 이 글에서는 「몽행록」의 지식요소와 그 관계를 체계적으로 정리하여 온톨로지 기반의 시맨틱 데이터 모델을 설계하였다. 「몽행록」은 설담의 유람 체험과 함께 그가 경유한 사찰 및 암자, 여정 중 만난 승려, 전해 들은 불교 설화 등 다양한 정보를 담고 있다. 이러한 지식요소는 설담의 이동 반경을 확인하고, 승려와의 네트워크를 조직하며, 승려의 유람을 불세계 탐방으로 이해하는 데에 중요한 역할을 한다. 이러한 정보를 데이터로 편찬해 지식관계망을 구축함으로써, 기존의 문자열 데이터베이스와 달리 보다 유연하게 자료를 탐색할 수 있도록 하였다. 아울러 「몽행록」은 유관 자료와의 연계를 통해 여정의 맥락과 의미를 확장할 수 있기에, 『설담집』 내 다른 작품과 『불조원류』 등을 참조하여 함께 기초 데이터로 확보하였다. 데이터를 정리하는 과정을 통해 설담의 여정이 청허계 승려와 교유하고, 그들의 불사를 확인하며, 청허계 승려로서 자신의 위치를 환기하는 목적이 있었다는 해석을 도출․제시하였다. 이처럼 「몽행록」 내외로 채집한 데이터를 수집하여 시맨틱 데이터베이스를 구축하고, 이를 시각화한 결과물을 공유하였다. 본 연구는 「몽행록」이라는 불가 유람기의 데이터를 편찬하는 방식을 제안하며, 향후 불가 유람기 전반을 포괄하는 시맨틱 데이터베이스로 나아가는 발판이 되길 바란다.
Abstract
The Monghaengrok (夢行錄) by Seoldam Jaoo (雪潭自優) is a Buddhist travelogue written in the 18th century, a period marked by the active production of collected works and prose literature by monks. This work records Seoldam Jaoo's month-long journey through the Jeonbuk region, detailing his experiences and observations. This study systematically organizes the knowledge elements in Monghaengrok and their interrelations to construct an ontology-based semantic data model. Monghaengrok contains diverse information, including his travel routes, the temples he visited, monks he encountered, and Buddhist narratives he heard. These elements help reconstruct his movements, analyze monastic network, and interpret his journey as an exploration of the Buddhist world. By structuring this information into a knowledge network, this study enables a more systematic and flexible approach to data exploration Furthermore, Monghaengrok expands its contextual significance through connections with related works. To enhance the dataset's comprehensiveness, this study incorporates references from Seoldamjip (雪潭集) and Buddhist Lineage (佛祖源流). This process suggests that Seoldam Jaoo’s journey was an opportunity to engage with monks of the Cheongheo lineage, examine their practices, and reaffirm his position within the monastic tradition. By compiling, structuring, and visualizing data from Monghaengrok and related texts, this study develops a semantic database that facilitates advanced exploration of Buddhist travel records. Ultimately, it proposes a methodological framework for compiling Buddhist travelogues, laying the foundation for a comprehensive semantic database of diverse Buddhist travelogues.
