본 연구는 국제무에타이연맹의 세부 종목인 마이 무에타이의 표준 기술 명칭이 지닌 문화배경 특성을분석하여 시연 경기에서 표현력을 향상시키고, 국내 무에타이 교육 발전 및 보급에 이바지하는 목적을 가진다. 국내⋅외에서 수집된 학술 및 문헌자료를 대상으로 문헌고찰법, 내용 분석법을 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결론은다음과 같다. 첫째, 마이 무에타이 표준 기술의 문화배경 종류에는 ‘신화’, ‘동물’, ‘문화’와 같은 모티브 유형3가지, ‘단순 기능 표현’ 유형이 1가지로 총 4가지가 존재했다. 둘째, 4가지 문화배경 유형 가운데 ‘신화모티브’, ‘문화 모티브’가 각자 11가지로 동일하게 가장 우세하게 나타났고, ‘동물 모티브’ 7가지, ‘단순 기능표현’ 1가지 순으로 집계되었다. 셋째, 마이 무에타이 기술 표현력을 향상시키기 위해서는 가장 우세한 영향을끼친 타이의 ‘신화’와 ‘문화’에 대한 이해 향상이 필수적이다. 본 연구는 무에타이의 국내 엘리트 및 생활체육영역에서 전통적 무에타이 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공한다는 의의를 가진다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the cultural background characteristics of the standard technique names in Mai Muaythai, a sperated sport of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations, to enhance expressiveness in competitions and contribute to the development and dissemination of Muaythai education in Korea. Literature review and content analysis methods were conducted on academic and literary materials collected domestically and internationalyy. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, there are four types of cultural background for the standard techniques of Mai Muaythai: 3 types of motifs such as ‘myth,’ ‘animal,’ and ‘culture,’ and 1 type of ‘functional expression.’ Second, among the 4 cultural background types, ‘myth’ and ‘culture’ each appeared most dominantly with 11 instances, followed by ‘animal’ with 6 instances and ‘functional expressions’ with 2 instances. Third, to enhance the expressiveness of Mai Muaythai techniques, it is essential to improve understanding of Thai ‘myth’ and ‘culture,’ which had the most significant influence. This study is meaningful as it provides basic data for the development of Muaythai education programs in both elite and general sports sectors in Korea.
