사진자화상 예술활동의 치유담론: 필립 뒤바의 ‘사진적 행위’ 개념을 중심으로

1930년대 사진의 대중화가 시작되었고, 오늘날에는 SNS의 생활화로 ‘사진 찍기’는 일상적 행위가 되었다. 특히 “자신의 모습을 직접 촬영한 사진”이라는 뜻을 지닌 ‘셀피’라는 개념이 등장하면서 사진자화상은 일종의 문화적 현상이 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 ‘사진 찍기’라는 행위 자체에 내포된 심리적 기제를 살피고, 사진자화 상 예술활동은 어떠한 치유적 효과가 있는지 분석하는 데 있다. 서론에서는 필립 뒤바의 ‘사진적 행위’와 ‘실재 의 자국으로서의 사진’ 개념을 이론적 배경으로 ‘사진을 찍는다’는 행위를 치유담론과 연관지어 고찰하였다. 본론에서는 치유적 자화상 예술활동 사례를 통해 치유 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘실제의 나를 보게 하는 자 기직면의 힘, 자기표현을 통한 감정 정화의 힘, 유연한 정체성으로의 전환 및 수용의 힘’이라는 세 가지 결론 을 도출하였다. 특별히 사진자화상 예술활동은 주체의 외면과 내면을 동시에 탐색하며 렌즈로 상응하는 가상 의 타자 앞에 서는 경험을 통해 자기객관화 능력과 통찰력을 증진시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이 점은 사진의 심리적 기제가 타 매체와 다른 점이기도 하다. 치유적 예술교육이 확대되기 위해서는 평생교육법과 연계된 다 차원적인 제도적 지원의 확충과, 치유적 예술활동을 이끄는 교육자에게는 치유 기능과 관련한 전문적인 교육 지원이 마련되어야겠다.
Abstract
The popularization of photography began in the 1930s, and today, ‘taking a photo’ has become a daily activity, as social media is now a part of our lives. In particular, with the emergence of the ‘selfie,’ which means “a photograph that one has taken of oneself,” a self-portrait became a kind of cultural phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to examine the psychological mechanism implicit in the act of ‘taking a photo’ and to analyze what kind of healing effect self-portrait art activities have. ‘The Photographic Act and Philippe Dubois’s concept of ‘photography as a mark of existence’ were considered as atheoretical background, and the act of ‘taking a photo’ was examined in relation to the healing discourse. During the main discussion, healing self-portrait art activities were analyzed as part of the analysis of the healing effect. In the end,: “the power of facing oneself that enables one to see one’s true self, the power of emotional purification through self-expression, and the power of acceptance and conversion to a flexible identity.” In particular, it has been confirmed that self-por- trait art activities can improve self-objectivity and insight through the “experience of standing before a virtual other that corresponds to a lens while exploring the subject's outer and inner sides at the same time.” This point is also different from other media in the psychological mechanism of photography. In order to expand healing arts education, multi-dimensional institutional support linked to the Lifelong Education Act should be expanded, and professional education support related to healing functions should be provided for educators who lead healing art activities.
