미술치료에서 사진 및 디지털 이미지 활용에 관한 문헌연구

본 논문은 미술치료가 디지털 시대에 어떻게 적응하고 있는지 문헌연구를 통해 알아보고자 한다. 미술치료와 다른 정신건강분야에서는 치료를 위한 의사소통의 도구로써 시각이미지를 다루어왔고 그러한 전통이 기술의 발전에 따라 사진과 디지털 이미지의 활용으로 이어지고 있다. 이에 해당 분야의 사진 활용에 대한 선행연구를 비판적으로 분석한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현대 정신건강 분야에서 디지털 시대의 의사소통 매체를 적용한 근거-기반 연구가 필요하다. 둘째, 사진치료기법과 미술치료에서의 사진의 활용은 사진을 의사소통의 매개체로 사용한다는 공통점은 있지만 몇 가지 차이점을 보이기 때문에 내담자의 욕구와 치료목표에 따라 다르게 적용되어야 한다. 셋째, 미술치료 분야에서는 치료사의 전문성 확보를 위한 디지털 기술의 교육과 윤리기준의 확립이 미국미술치료협회(AATA)를 중심으로 시작되었으나 사진치료기법에서는 여전히 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결론을 바탕으로 사진 및 디지털 이미지 활용의 미술치료 현장 적용과 이에 관한 후속 연구의 필요성을 제언한다.
Abstract
This study seeks to investigate how art therapy adapts to digital age through literature review. Art therapy and other fields concerning mental health have incorporated visual images as a method of communication, and such tradition led to the use of photography and digital images with the development of technology. The conclusions from critically analyzing previous studies are as follows. Evidence-based research studies regarding the application of digital communication methods are needed. Secondly, PhotoTherapy techniques have a similarity with art therapy in using photographs as communication tools but there are several differences. Thus, therapeutic approaches should be applied according to clients’ need and therapeutic goals. Third, while American Art Therapy Association initiated digital technology education and established ethical principles to secure art therapist’s professionalism, PhotoTherapy techniques lack in such efforts. The conclusion of this study suggests the implementation of using photography and digital images in art therapy practices and relevant further research studies.
