2023년 북한 교육 동향 분석 -노동신문 기사를 중심으로-

Abstract

This study aims to understand the current state of North Korean education and forecast trends of its change. For this purpose, the study analyzed articles on North Korean education in Rodong Sinmun from 2023 categorizing them by time period and content, and drawing implications for understanding future directions of change. As a result of the study, in early 2023, improving the educational structure to realize advanced education based on global development trends was presented as a development task in the field of education through party policy. Additionally, as resolving the widened educational gap between regions during the COVID-19 pandemic was raised as an important task, education support through mobilization of local resources was encouraged as a way to improve education to improve performance. Reporters from the Rodong Sinmun also emphasized teacher education by presenting exemplary cases of teachers’ roles, and argued for the need to develop educational methods that take students’ characteristics and interests into account. Along with this, in terms of improving the capabilities of industrial sites,linking higher education between urban and rural areas and strengthening distance education were presented as major tasks. For future analysis of major trends in North Korean education, it is necessary to analyze the actual aspects of the North Korean education system that follow the global trends aimed at by North Korean education. In Addition, a systematic understanding is required of the development of educational methods that consider the psychological developmental characteristics of students, as well as the current implementation status of international collaborations aimed at the internationalization of higher education.
