초록

본 연구에서는 FIE 프로그램이 저소득 계층 아동의 지능 및 학업성취에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 J시에 위치한 초등학교의 방과후학교, 지역자활센터, 종합사회복지관의 4학년과 5학년 아동을 소속 학교, 학년, 성별, 부모의 소득 등을 고려하여 실험집단 20명, 통제집단 20명으로 배정하였다. FIE 프로그램은 1단계(4종)를 6개월간(주1회)에 걸쳐 총24회기로 진행하였다. 교수방법은 인지수정가능성이론(SCM), 중재학습경험(MLE), 인지지도를 중심으로 하였다. 자료처리는 t검증을 이용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, FIE 프로그램은 저소득 계층 아동의 지능에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 실험집단내의 성별에 따른 지능 향상의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, FIE 프로그램은 저소득 계층 아동의 학업성취에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 실험집단내의 성별에 따른 학업성취 향상의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The study aimed to examine whether the FIE program might affect IQ and academic achievement of low-income children. The sample was randomly selected from 4th and 5th grade students in after-schools and social service centers. The number of 20 students was assigned into the treatment group and control group, considering their school, grade, sex, and family socio-economic status. The result of the study showed that the FIE program was positively associated with the improvement of IQ and academic achievement. The mean difference, however, was not significant by sex within the treatment group of the students.
