Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a contact lens containing Dexamethasone-SMEDDS to increase the solubility and bioavailability of dexamethasone to provide an ocular delivery system for the treatment of inflammation such as conjunctivitis and keratitis. Capryol® 90 (Oil) and Transcutol HP (Co-surfactant) were selected through solubility and miscibility in dexamethasone, and PEG 200 (surfactant) was additionally selected through Cloud Point measurement experiments. A three-phase equilibrium diagram was created by varying the ratio of Surfactant and Co-surfactant to 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1, and the ratio of 1:2, which has the widest range of Emulsion formation, was selected. Contact lenses were manufactured with HEMA hydrogel contacts using HEMA, EGDMA, and AIBN, which are the most basic. When evaluated differently in the amount of oil, the moisture content and wettability of the contact lenses that have been put in a lot are good for wearing, and the elution evaluation showed that the drug was continuously released for 6 hours, which could improve bioavailability by inducing western release compared to ophthalmic solutions.
