25.0과 SPSS PROCESS macro ver.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between depression and turnover intention among manufacturing workers. Data were collected through a survey of 347 manufacturing workers selected via purposive sampling from 15 workplaces located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2, and the research findings are as follows. First, correlation analysis among key variables revealed a negative correlation between depression and self-esteem, as well as between self-esteem and turnover intention. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between depression and turnover intention. Second, the simple mediation effect of self-esteem in the relationship between depression and turnover intention was examined, and the results confirmed that self-esteem served as a mediator. Specifically, higher levels of depression among manufacturing workers were associated with lower self-esteem, and in the relationship between depression and turnover intention, higher self-esteem was associated with lower turnover intention. Based on these findings, this study suggests strategies to reduce turnover intention by lowering depression and enhancing self-esteem among manufacturing workers.
