A Proposal for the Storytelling of the Vitalizing Bogildo Tourism - On its Historic Background -

This study attempts to propose storytelling which can help vitalize Bogildo tourism. Until today, Bogildo was just a passing by place not fit for staying. However, the island itself is known to be a wealthy one due to abalone aquiculture. Thus it is time to consider how to change the tourism policy of this island from passing-by tourism to staying tourism. We need to promote the tourism of Bogilo by using storytelling in order to succeed in this shift of tourism. There are several ways to promote tourism in Bogildo. First, we can brand the island as the seclusion place of ‘Gosan Yun sun-do. Second, we can build storytelling by combining the island’s natural environment with classical Korean poems. Many historic sites can be used to build this storytelling. Guelssin rock of U-am Song siyeol, the political rival of Yun sun-do, Seyeonjung and Sickyeongjung of Songgang Jeong cheol, the first man in Korean verse literature, and Dongchunsucksil and Dasanchodang of Dasan Jeong yak-yong can be several examples of historic sites. In conclusion, this study will provide an opportunity that can help vitalize Bogildo tourism. We can develop a tour package such as “Experiencing Fishermen Rhymes in Four Seasons" and advertize the surrounding sea, camellia woods, and so on. Promoting Bogildo's tourism through storytelling will make this island a peaceful staying tour island in the long term, even after the SOC expansion.
