교회 역사는 2천년이다. 그 오랜 시간동안 수없이 많은 종교적인 가르침과 가치들이 교회의 다양한 변화들에 따라 생성되고 사라졌다. 그러나 아무리 오랜 세월이 지나갔더라도 결코 변하지 않았던 가치들 중 하나는 바로 성찬례 전통이다. 성찬례는 그리스도 신학의 주제로서 다양한 분야에서 다루어졌고 수많은 의미들이 추구되었다. 분명한 사실 하나는 이 성찬례를 통해 하나님과의 인격적인 만남이 가능하다는 것이다. 그리고 이런 체험은 개개 그리스도인들의 삶에 큰 영향을 끼쳐 그리스도인의 정체성 확립에도 분명한 역할을 담당한다. 이 글에서는 먼저 예수님의 최후만찬과 공식적인 성찬례문으로 모든 교회에서 사용되고 있는 고린토전서 11장 23-26절을 분석하고(2) 이어서 성찬례가 초기 교회와 주변 세계에서 어떻게 받아들여졌는지 점검한 다음(3) 성찬례를 두고 가톨릭과 개신교에서 벌어졌던 교리논쟁을 살펴볼 것이고(4) 마지막으로 해석학적 반성을 시도해 볼 것이다(5). 오늘날 우리에게 성체의 성격을 어떻게 규정하는가는 그리 중요하지 않다. 또한 성체의 의미를 추구하는데 과학적 증명이 결정적인 역할을 하는 것도 아니다. 오히려 과학적 증명에 온전히 기대다보면 인간의 사유는 빈곤해질 수도 있는 노릇이다. 하지만 무엇보다 중요한 사실은 당사자의 삶에 변화가 없으면 성체는 전적으로 무의미해지고 말리라는 점이다. 성체란 언제나 성체를 받아 모신 다음이 중요하다. 진정한 성찬은 그래야만 한다. 성찬례와 관련해 이 글에서 제기된 질문들은 여기서 그치는 게 아니라 앞으로도 지속될 것이다.
Abstract
The history of the Church has been for 2000 years. During this time, there were many values that appeared and then disappeared, changing the tendencies of the Church in the various ways. What are, then, the permanent values that remained intact in these 2000 years of history of the Church? One of them is surely the worship done every Sunday, especially the Eucharist. Although our subject is known by a variety of meanings in the different branches of theology, it is certain that, through the Eucharist, communication with God is finally possible. Moreover, it takes the roll of confirming the identity of every Christian. The first step of this article will be analysing the Last Supper of Jesus and the text 1Cor 11,23-26(I.II). The second part will deal with the Situation of the Eucharist in the early Church(III), the third step is the different point of view between catholic and protestant church(IV) ending with the hermeneutic reflection and conclusion(V). Naturally, the questions raised above will be constantly shown in this paper.
