오늘 서구 그리스도교는 위기에 직면에 있다. 교인 수가 급격히 줄어 교회가 문을 닫고 신학대학들도 문을 닫지 않으면 안 되는 처지가 되었다. 다수의 신학대학들은 한국의 유학생들로 명맥을 유지하고 있다. 그런데 이제 한국 교회도 이런 서구 그리스도교와 같은 위기를 맞고 있다. 그리스도교가 이렇게 위기를 맞게 된 근본 원인은 무엇보다 서구 근대주의 세계관에 의한 신학과 신앙 때문이다. 서구 근대주의는 무한한 물질적 이익추구를 하기 위해 이성에 의한 ‘객관적 지식’으로 자연과 사람을 객체화하고 지배하였다. 서구 신학은 이런 근대주의 ‘객관적 지식’으로 신학을 했기 때문에 위기를 맞게 된 것이다. 따라서 그리스도교가 이 위기를 극복하려면 물질적 이익추구 그리고 인간과 자연만이 아니라 신까지 객체화한 서양 근대주의 신학을 넘어 새로운 눈으로 성서를 읽어야 한다. 이것은 성서 밖에서 객관적이란 명분으로 인간의 필요에 따라 성서를 읽는 것이 아니라 성서 안에서 성서 시대의 사람들, 특히 민중들의 경험에 함께 참여하는 체험적 성서읽기이다.
Abstract
The Western Christianity today is in crisis. The number of Christian believers is reduced. As a consequence the Churches are being closed with theological seminaries as well. Many of western theological seminaries can be maintained by foreign students from Korea as such. By the way Korean Churches are in the same situation of crisis as western Churches. The fundamental reason why Churches are in a crisis all over the world is due to the theology and faith orientation affected by the world view of western modernism. Western modernism aims at infinitive pursuit of material interest which dominates nature and people by objectifying knowledge only owing to reason separately from the holistic view of reason and body. Thus western theology became in crisis because their theological basis had been upon such modernism by means of objective knowledge. Now it is time to read bible not by western modernism theological perspective but by an alternative paradigm itself in order to overcome this tremendous crisis in Christianity. It is an alternative paradigm of reading to engage in people's(Minjung's) life experiences and read bible within their historical context of oppression and suffering, not to read bible objectively from the human interests outside of the biblical context of the people.
