우리나라는 글로벌로 추동된 다문화사회로의 전이 과정에 있다. 국제교류와 소통체계의 발달에 의한 이주 소수자들과 그 자녀들이한국이라는 새로운 사회에 어떻게 적응하고 기여할 것인가에 대한문제가 주요 담론으로 등장하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이 글은 향후국력의 주요 구성 요소가 될 것이 명백한 다문화가정 자녀들이 한국사회가 추구하는 민주주의 정치체계의 기본 가치를 습득하고 실천해나가는 시민형성 과정을, 이에 직접적 영향력을 미치는 교원들의 다문화교육에 대한 인식 관점에서 접근한 것이다. 우리나라 교원의 다문화교육 관심도는 높은 것으로 나타났으며. 다문화교육 목표를 구성하는 모든 지표 항목들이 중요하다는 데 강한 긍정 응답을 보였고, 다문화교육의 방법에서 동화주의 논리로 여겨지는 기여접근보다 실용적 차원의 부가접근과 다문화주의 논리를지향하는 변환접근, 사회행동접근을 선호하는 경향이 나타났다. 이것은 소수자의 정체성을 적극적으로 인정하면서 공존과 공감적 다문화교육을 실행하려는 교원들의 인식을 반영한 것으로 해석할 수 있으며, 다문화 시민형성 과정이 지역에서 글로벌을 지향하는 바람직한시민성 정립 방향으로 나아갈 가능성이 크다는 것을 의미한다.
Abstract
Korean Society is changed into multicultural society mainly owed to globalization. This causes that problems on adaptation and contribution to new korean community of immigrant minorities and their children become major discourses by international exchange and communication system development. This paper pursued to analyse actual conditions of making citizens and forming democratic values and principles by multicultural families’ children on perspectives of teachers’multicultural education because they have worth and direct influences to new social elements in korea. Korean teachers have high level concerns about multicultural education, positive attitudes to multicultural goals and indicators,and prefer addiction, transformation, and social action approach to contribution approach. This means they are likely to become a multiculturalists than assimilationists. As it were, korean multicultural education to educating democratic citizens has good orientation in view of minorities’ identity, empathy on multiculture, and globalization.
