중국 현대 무용극의 예술적 특징과 발전 동향에 관한 연구

21세기 들어 중국의 예술가들은 자국의 전통문화에 뿌리를 두면서도 전자음악, 현대무용, 발레 등 서양의 다양한 표현 방식을 적극적으로 도입하고 이를 융합하여 창작의 폭을 넓히고 있다. 이에 따라 뚜렷한 문화적 색채를 지닌 다양한 작품이 지속적으로 창작되고 있다. 본 연구는 21세기 이후 대중성과 영향력을 확보한 중국 현대 무용극 작품들을 선정하여 작품의 스타일, 음악 구조, 서사 전략 및 무대 연출 등의 요소를 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 현대 중국 무용극은 비선형적 서사, 신체 중심의 서사 구조, 허실(虛實)의 구성, 디지털 매체의 활용 등과 같은 특징을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 최근 10년간의 공연 데이터와 시장 보고서를 종합적으로 검토하여 중국 무용극 산업의 현황 및 향후 발전 방향에 대해서도 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 중국 현대 무용극의 예술적 특징은 단순히 형식적인 혁신에 그치는 것이 아니라, 중국 전통문화가 지닌 시간관(時間觀), 신체관(身體觀), 의경(意境)의 미학적 원리와 깊은 관련성을 가지고 있으며 이를 통해 문화 전승과 현대적 표현 사이의 내재적 구성 논리를 명확히 드러내고 있음을 규명하였다.
Abstract
As a significant form of dance art, contemporary Chinese dance drama integrates elements of tradition and modernity, as well as national and international influences, thereby shaping a distinctive artistic language. This study examines representative Chinese dance dramas of the twenty-first century, analyzing their stylistic features, musical structures, narrative strategies, and stage presentations. From this analysis, four core characteristics emerge: nonlinear narrative, body-centered storytelling, the interplay of void and substance in spatial composition, and digital media integration. By also reviewing performance data and market reports from the past decade, the study assesses the current state and future trajectory of China’s dance drama industry. These characteristics are not isolated formal innovations but reflect deep structural mechanisms rooted in traditional Chinese notions of time, the body, and aesthetic atmosphere. They reveal how contemporary dance drama forges its identity between cultural inheritance and modern expression.
