본고는 ‘사업체패널조사’의 7년간 격년 자료(2005, 2007, 2009, 2011)를 활용하여 비전문 외국인노동자의 고용과 대체 가 기업성과에 주는 영향을 추정하고자 하였다. ‘사업체패널조 사’에 나타난 노동자를 숙련수준과 직종에 따라 숙련노동자, 사 무직노동자, 생산직노동자, 비전문 외국인노동자로 나뉘고, 비 전문 외국인노동자의 비율이 증가할 때, 자산수익률(ROA)과 자본수익률(ROE) 변화를 분석함으로써 비전문 외국인노동자에 의한 기업성과를 추정하고자 하였다. 추정 결과, 고정효과 및 확률효과 모델 모두에서 비전문 외국 인노동자 비율이 증가하면, 자산 및 자본수익률이 증가하는 것 으로 추정되었으며, 추정계수는 모두 5% 수준 이내에서 통계적 으로 유의하였다. 추가적으로 추정한 이원적 분석의 고정 및 확 률 모델에서도 비전문 외국인노동자 비율의 증가는 기업성과에 긍정적인 효과를 주는 것으로 나타났으며. 추정계수는 모두 5% 수준에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다.
Abstract
This study investigates the unskilled foreign workers impact of the firm’s performances using the panel data from “Workplace Labor Force Survey” of 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. The empirical result shows that the share of unskilled foreign workers are positively associated with the firms’ performances, return on asset and return on equity. This means that the possible negative effect on corporate performance from the communication problem due to language barriers and ethnic conflict from different cultural backgrounds in addition to lack of trust and social solidarity among foreign workers and locals workers is less than the given positive effect provided from the complementary relationship among foreign workers and locals workers and low wages of foreign workers.
