Abstract
In this paper, we derive joint distribution of households’ income and assets, and classify households into five categories; namely, those with (1) extremely low income compared to their wealth (2) relatively low income compared to their wealth (3) balanced possession of income and wealth (4) relatively high income compared to their wealth (5) extremely high income compared to their wealth. We find that the sum of the income and the property tax is roughly proportional without the imputed income, but progressive when we take the imputed income into account. The sum of the income and the property tax is regressive only for those households with extremely low income compared to their wealth, which accounts for less than 10 percent of the total number of households.
