Abstract
This study explores the operational strategies and solidarity-building practices of native and migrant women social entrepreneurs in Jeju. Employing focus group interviews and thematic analysis, the research reveals that both groups were motivated by social values in establishing their enterprises; natives often perceived social economy as a “second start”, whereas migrants linked it to capacity building during settlement. Both aspired to asset ownership and emphasized the need for expanded institutional support, with natives prioritizing youth entrepreneur development and migrants aiming to serve as generational role models. Leadership traits such as adventurousness and cooperation were common, while natives demonstrated independent resilience and migrants exhibited determination for a complete life through relocation. Networking practices showed collaboration without group distinctions, though natives constructed new communities within the social economy, whereas migrants relied on intermediary organizations and native support for local integration. Policy implications include strengthening women’s leadership, consolidating intergenerational solidarity, enhancing intermediary support systems, and promoting assetization strategies to ensure sustainable growth
