디지털인문학과 전자문화지도 -도서『지중해 여정 Mediterranean Passages』의 전자문화지도 구현-

Abstract

We are now living in a world in which the society-wide interest in IT and user requests are fully applied in academic fields. Digital Humanities is an integrated academic discipline that belongs to the academic interdisciplinary research between IT and humanities and is proposed as a new way of scientific research in humanities and regional studies. Its capabilities are now being confirmed through a variety of integration of digital technology. The crucial point to note for now is a practical plan and methodology to implement in a new horizon of humanities in the history of civilization as a space that technology has secured. That is, the system or methodology for providing the users with the meaningful and related information is scattered over online or offline for the related research in humanities, regional studies and others. This paper examines the substantive research on digital humanities. In particular, it will present the method of research through a substantive collaboration of experts in humanities and region and IT professionals at its base level, targeting the experts in humanities and region studies over the Mediterranean region and people at large. To achieve the objective, I will utilize realize humane contents of the book titled 『Mediterranean Passages』 and the integrated system of Electronic Cultural Atlas of Mediterranean Passages, while taking advantage of the Electronic Cultural Atlas as a technical tool at the same time.
