초록
This paper tries to answer to the question “How much influence political changes in ancient society had on the lives of ancient people?”. This study examines the general phenomenon in the history of the southern Levant (Ch. 2) and, as a case study, attempts to understand what changes occurred in the lives of the ancient Israelite after the division of the kingdom and Shishak's campaign in the late 10th century BCE (Ch. 3). In the last chapter (Ch. 4), based on the results of archaeological research conducted up to recently on material culture related to the lives of ancient people, the following significant conclusions were drawn regarding the influence and relationship between political changes and material culture: 1) It can be seen that changes in material culture brought about by political changes are a general phenomenon that transcends time and ethnicity. 2) The changes brought about by the division of the kingdoms of ancient Israel were different for each kingdom. The northern kingdom of Israel focused on erasing the existence of the unified kingdom centered on the southern kingdom of Judah and establishing a unique political, religious, and economic national foundation for the northern region of Israel, while the southern kingdom of Judah focused on establishing a national defense system. 3) The changes in many places in the early period of the Divided Kingdom were not due to the political division of the kingdom, but rather the destruction of existing settlements by invasions by external forces (such as the invasion of Shishak). 4) Political changes brought about changes such as the construction of national settlements and cities, and the construction of industrial facilities, but it can be seen that material culture related to daily life was not greatly affected by these political changes.
