본 연구의 목적은 결혼이주여성의 상호문화소통의 양상들을 살펴보고 상호문화성을 기반으로 하는 사회통합 방법을 고찰하는 것이다. 이를 위해 상호문화주의, 상호문화소통, 그리고 상호문화소통역량에 관한 이론적인 논의를 전개하였고, 이주민의 상호문화소통과정을 기술하기 위한 요소들을 추출하였다. 연구참여자로는 결혼을 목적으로 이주한 중국 및 중앙아시아 이주여성 10인이 선정되었으며 이들을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 그 후 수집된 자료를 상호문화소통과정 기술요소와 비교하는 방법으로 결혼이주여성의 상호문화 소통 양상과 그 의미를 탐색하였다. 그 결과 결혼이주여성들은 많은 부분에서 상호문화소통역량을 소유하고 있었으며, 이를 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있었다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 함의를 도출할 수 있었다. 즉, 진정한 사회통합을 위해서는 이주민들에게 일방적인 흡수 혹은 적응을 강요할 것이 아니라 그들의 민족적 정체성을 유지한 상태에서 다양한 문화적 배경을 가진 개인을 인정하고 존중하려는 노력이 필요하다는 것이다. 또한 그들에게만 상호문화소통능력을 함양하도록 강요할 것이아니라 정주민과 이주민이 함께 노력하고 소통할 때 진정한 사회통합이 이루어지게 될 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects of intercultural communication of married migrant women and to examine ways of social integration. To this end, the theoretical discussions were conducted and elements were extracted. Ten Chinese and Central Asian migrant women were selected as participants, and in-depth interviews were conducted. After that, the data were compared with the technical elements of the intercultural communication process to explore the aspects of intercultural communication. As a result, the women owned that capability, and continued to make efforts. This led to the following implications: that is, true social integration requires efforts to recognize and respect individuals while maintaining the ethnic identity, rather than forcing migrants to absorb or adapt unilaterally. In addition, they will not be forced to cultivate intercultural communication skills alone, but true social integration will be achieved when work together and communicate.
