초록

This study attempted to evaluate visually and quantitatively the degree of physico-chemicalchanges with raw silk and degummed silk irradiated with gamma-ray under the dry and wet conditionassuming an flood emergency situation. The morphological change was not definitely observed on bothraw silk and degummed silk in dry and wet condition according to dose of the gamma-ray irradiation. The color change value (△Eab*) of wet raw silk was measured the highest (7.1) at 100 kGy while the colordifference was the lowest (1.5) for dry degummed silk at 50 kGy irradiation. Overall, the absorbanceof degummed silk was seen to be relatively higher than that of raw silk in the infrared spectroscopyspectrum. As for the dry raw silk, the absorbance in the spectrum partially decreased as the gammarayirradiation dose increased, but no specific difference was confirmed by irradiation dose. The ratio ofAmide I and II showed a slight increase as the irradiation dose increased; however, no great change in theprimary structure of the polypeptide was observed. Therefore, in this study, it was possible to confirmthe possibility of expanding the gamma-ray irradiation area that can be subjected to massive biologicalcontrol for silk materials in a field of conservation science.
