대학 마일리지 제도 경험에 대한 합의적 질적 연구

대부분 대학들은 학생들의 비교과 활동을 독려하기 위해 비교과 활동내역을 점수로 환산하여 장학금을 지급하는 마일리지제도를 운영하고 있다. 본 연구는 대학이 학생들에게 전략적으로 제공하고 있는 마일리지 제도에 대한 학생 경험의 이해를 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 마일리지 제도가 정착된 대학의 학생 16명을 선정하여 심층면접을 실시하고, 면접 자료를 합의적 질적연구방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과의 타당성 확보를 위해 감수자에게 연구를 통해 도출된 전체 영역 및 범주의 적절성에 대한의견을 받았으며, 최종적으로 ‘마일리지 제도에 참여하게 된 동기’, ‘마일리지 제도에 참여하는 과정에서의 경험’, ‘마일리지 제도에 참여한 이후 경험의 영향’의 3개 영역과 18개 범주를 도출하였다. 본 연구는 대학 마일리지 제도에 대한 학생 경험에 초점을 맞추고, 이를 통해 현행 마일리지 제도에 대한 검토와 향후 대학이 마일리지 제도에 대해 접근할 다양한 시사점을 제안했다는데 그 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Most universities operate a mileage scheme that grants scholarships by converting students’ extra-curricular activities into scoresto encourage extra-curricular activities. This study seeks to understand the student experience of this mileage scheme, which universitiesare strategically providing to their students. For the purpose of the study, 16 students from universities where the mileagescheme is established were selected for in-depth interviews and the interview data was analyzed through consensual qualitativeresearch methods. To secure the validity of research results, feedback was received from a reviewer regarding the appropriacy ofareas and categories derived from the study. Ultimately, 3 areas of ‘motivation behind participating in the mileage scheme’, ‘experiencein the process of participating in the mileage scheme’, ‘impact of the experience after participating in the mileage scheme’, and18 categories were derived. This study is meaningful in that it focuses on the student experience of the university mileage schemeto present a review of the current university mileage scheme and suggest various implications for universities to consider when approachingthe mileage scheme in the future.
