Abstract
In 2022, the Ministry of Education announced that it would support various policies to expand information education in the cur riculum as a measure to foster digital talent. With the digital transformation, information is a very important subject in secondary schools, and the number of class hours for information classes in the curriculum is being expanded. Accordingly, this study conduct ed a survey targeting IT majors and conducted research for the purpose of evaluating and identifying problems in information educa tion in secondary schools based on the collected data analysis. For this study, we analyzed the survey data of 144 college students. The results of the analysis showed that in the case of information classes in secondary courses, classes are limited to certain grades and are short in duration, and in the case of programming practice classes, most of them are theory-based or evaluation-oriented, leaving insufficient time for practice. It was analyzed that information classes operated in secondary courses are not of much helpto students in choosing IT-related departments. In addition, elective courses in information courses were not offered and thus werenot completed, and it was confirmed that text-based programming classes must be completed in secondary courses for the major. This study is a study to identify areas for improving information education in secondary schools, and is significant as a study forinformation education in secondary schools to foster digital talent.
