초록
The symptoms of the aging process can vary largely depending on environmental factors, besides genetic factors such as increasing age. In this study we present some daily variables that can change the degree of aging displayed by individuals, and then show their efficiency in terms of professional skin care for wrinkles and discolorations. The use of sunscreen protects the skin from photoaging and immunosuppression caused by UV light exposure, and from photoaging, by reducing elastase activity induced by UV-A exposure. Appropriate exercise and regular sleeping habits, with proper sleep duration, increase the excretion of growth hormone and decrease oxidative stress, which can prevent the aging process. Furthermore, regular skin care prevents the aging process by increasing both epidermal turnover and the quantity of sebum excreted and synthesized. On the other hand, nicotine damages collagen and elastin and ages skin by affecting the fibroblasts. Drinking alcohol, especially heavily, generates free radicals and deleteriously affects the skin. Therefore, appropriate exercise, regular sleeping habits with proper sleep duration, regular skin care, use of sunscreen, non-smoking and appropriate alcohol consumption could minimize photoaging or the physiological aging process.
