초록

The present study investigated the anti-inflammatory effect and usability as a cosmetic ingredient of herbal complex extracts (hot water extract (HCW), and 70% EtOH extract (HCE) of Salvia miltiorrhiza and Samultang. The total polyphenol content of HCW and HCE confirmed the effect of 107.02 ± 0.83 mg TAE/100 g and 327.3 ± 0.73 mg TAE/100 g, respectively. The electron donating ability measurement result showed 82.1% (HCW), 93.88% (HCE) at a concentration of 1,000 μg/mL, while ABTS radical scavenging activity showed more than 90% activity at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. Cell viability was confirmed in RAW 264.7 cells, and viability of over 90% was confirmed for both extracts at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. Therefore, subsequent experiments were conducted at concentrations of 500 μg/mL or less. NO production inhibitory activity measurement revealed that the HCW and HCE had an inhibitory effect of 19.6% and 33.62%, respectively at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. When the protein expression effect of iNOS and COX-2 measured, the HCW showed an inhibitory effect of 25.46%, 67.1% and the HCE showed an inhibitory effect of 36.26%, 34.33% at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. Based on these results, it was inferred that the herbal complex extracts had antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and are potential cosmetic materials.
